Bristol Drum Lesssons is the brainchild of drummer and teacher Gavin Payn. Started in 2011, Gavin has taught many students in and around Bristol how to play drum kit. Teaching students from as young as 7 to slightly older folk; possibly at retirement age. All abilities are welcome. Everyone can play drums. Many students have gone on to achieve gradings and, most importantly, to play the drums in the way they want to play.

Gavin has been playing for 20 years and enjoys many styles, from rock to jazz, and latin to funk. Qualified to grade 8 he’s played in venues as big as London Astoria to thousands of people and small intimate gigs in and around Bristol such as The Canteen and The Golden Lion on Gloucester Road. He currently plays professionally in and around Bristol as well as recording online session drum tracks for collaborators all over the world.

‘With experience I’ve developed some excellent learning material to work on technique; hand picked from many sources. They include hand rudiment work-outs, foot work-outs, hand to feet work-outs and loads of creative material. If you want to take your drumming to the next level then get in touch!’

Gavin is a member of the Musicians UnionC.R.B Documentation can be provided on request.

‘It doesn’t matter if you want to play the drums like a professional or just for your free time, Gavin will be able to adapt to you. He is a friendly guy and a very good teacher. For sure you will have fun and at the same time you will learn a lot.’ Jose, 2012.
